SERVING IN SUNSHINE AND RAIN!

Buna!

Sorry this is late, I forgot to say that we changed our P-Day to Wednesday because we wanted to visit the Peles Castle in Sinai (about an hour away), and the castle isn't open on Mondays. But we had a wonderful time, the castle was so beautiful, like a fairy tale come to life! But I'll talk more about that in a minute.

It's summer, and that means lots of sun, but as lots of rain, at least this week, there been some rain. I don't mind at all, it keeps things from getting too hot! :) But anyway, since it's a new transfer, our district has been making lot of goals for ourselves, for our investigators, less actives, and members. I've come to really understand and appreciate why missionaries set goals, they help us to have something to work towards, where if we push ourselves and just keep trying, we'll accomplish so much more than we could without goals. I've also really been trying to work on patience. We may want to accomplish everything right now,  but the Lord can see so much more than we can. I've been reading in Jesus the Christ, about how Jesus Christ is praying for His disciples before the journey to Gethsemane. He is about to take upon the pains and sins of all mankind, and He's praying for His disciples, "and those who shall believe in their words" which I believe means us, that "they may be one in us [the Father and the Son]". To be one in them, I believe, requires patience, which means the faith to accept Heavenly Father's will above our own. Once we truly say with all our hearts, "Not my will, but Thine be done" then we have developed true patience. I am by no means perfect, but I am going to work and I am going to try because I know that this is what the Lord wants me to do.

English classes have started again this week, and we've done a lot to invite new people to come, passing out cards and making posters and setting them up all over Brasov. I love English class, there were so many new faces this week now that Sora Routson and I are teaching Advanced and the childrens' class!

This week, we've had the chance to talk a lot about the temple and family history. Kinga, a member we visited, told us about her beloved grandmother who passed away recently. Kinga loves her like a second mother and expressed again and again the desire to somehow share the gospel with her. Sora Routson and I felt prompted to speak to her about Family History, and I felt prompted to share with her the story of one of my ancestors, Joseph Dobson. He was converted and baptized in England along with his wife and three sons, left all he had to join the Saints in Nauvoo, lost his wife and one son, became a cripple, left his two surviving sons to find help, when they were driven  out of Nauvoo and then he joined the Mormon Battalion to obey the Prophet, believing that the Lord would protect him and his sons. He was reunited with them and lived and died a faithful, obedient Saint. I bore my testimony of Family History, how I can have the stories of those who have gone before to strengthen me and how I can help them by finding their names and taking them to the temple to have their work done. Kinga felt the Spirit so strongly and asked us to help her learn how to use Family History, I also promised her a picture of the Kyiv temple. What I bore witness of to Kinga is true, we are all missionaries when we seek out those who have gone before and help them receive the blessings of the temple. When we help them, the Lord will help us, we become more selfless and happy.

There is nothing to be afraid of in missionary work, we are on the side of the Lord, our God and the Author of our Salvation. We face trials and disappointments, but that's when the Savior's Atonement comes in. When I heard the news that Elder L. Tom Perry had passed away, I felt sad at first, but then I felt peace wash over me, the Spirit reminding me that because of the Savior's Atonement, no heartache or disappointment lasts forever. As Elder Perry said, "[The Atonement] will bless lives here and in eternities to come." I will add my testimony to that of an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ: When we chose to declare the good news of the Atonement and the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, He will stand by our sides, help us up when we fall, and guide and love us until that great and glorious day when He will come again. "Shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backwards. Courage and on, on to the victory!" D&C 138:22

Pictures of us going contacting, with my district, and Peles!  Sora Elliot (the new sister) is amazing, so hardworking and postive!  Peles is a beautiful castle, we weren't allowed to take pictures inside without paying a fine, but what an amazing P-day experience!
